耶魯有個很好的獎學金項目,不但每年資助學生到海外學中文,更鼓勵老師替他們到大陸和台灣訪查... 03年,我剛到耶魯工作,就很幸運地藉訪查台大華語研習所之名拿了經費回台灣...更幸運的是能和彭鏡禧教授共餐,那時他新譯的詩集"給要離家的女兒"剛出版,還送了我一本....我想,在耶魯工作,除了認識鄭愁予老師和來自對岸的名作家同事之外,那次的訪問機會,大概是最大的收穫了... 喔,其實我要說的是...翻譯詩...真是難啊!不過,感謝那次訪問彭教授的機會,我也算終於開始了第一步,雖然我沒有受過任何比較文學的訓練,但越翻,還是對中文越有不同的體會 ==== FRANCIS WILLIAM BOURDILON (1852-1921) trasnlated by Li-li Teng Foti The night has a thousnad eyes, And the day but one; Yet the light of the bright world dies, With the dying sun. _ _黑夜閃爍著千萬雙眼睛 _白晝的瞳光, 僅此唯一 _當僅此的瞳光褪去 _世界便不再光明 The mind has a thousand eyes, And the heart but one; Yet the light of a whole life dies, Where love is done. _思緒裡,閃爍著千萬雙眼睛 _內心,只需一只明眸來看清 _當愛,在明眸裡熄盡 _生命便只剩死寂

余光中的好诗不少。还记有首诗用拟人手法描写瀑布, 最后那句."只因为在那儿等待的,是海”曾让我一遍又一遍沉浸在文学的美里... 工作以来，读诗似乎成了久久一次，甚至几乎被遗忘的奢侈的享受... 昨天一个偶然的机会里，在PC Home 读到这首诗... 非常钦佩大师翻译的功力...至于诗的意境，就等你和我一起慢慢揣摩了 === Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening 　　　Robert Frost http://forum.pchome.com.tw/forum/post.php?mode=item&type=1&board=english&subject=4240&read=1 Whose woods these are I think I know, His house is in the village, though; He will not see me stopping here, To watch his woods fill up with snow.
